Brad Pommen, Founder & President
As President of the Nelson Tech Club Hackerspace, Brad has taught hundreds of people, of all ages, how to code, design and adopt emerging technologies in the local community since 2010. Since 2012 we have organized a successful robotic educational event called “RoboGames” for local youth with attracts 20 – 60 participants and hundreds of spectators through my partnership with KAST. Brad regularly lectures for youth, community and senior citizen groups on multiple technology subjects and volunteer instructs technology courses and tours within the Selkirk College Makerspace.
He is a hacker, a maker, a technology enthusiast and a leader in STREAM initiatives.
He is Mr. Technology.
After Graduating from Vancouver Film School’s Computer Animation program in 1991, Jason worked in Vancouver BC as a 3D modeler and animator for TV and commercial advertising. Jason Taylor started with Selkirk College in August of 1998 and was hired to develop the Multimedia Production and Design program. In 2002 the Multimedia Production and Design program moved to Nelson and Jason became the Chair of the School of Digital Arts and New Media. In 2012 Jason became the Chair of the School of the Arts, which holds the Digital Arts and New Media, Contemporary Music and Technology programs on the Tenth Street Campus and the Craft and Design programs at the Victoria Street Campus. When not at Selkirk playing, Jason can be found on the golf course, ski hill or in his workshop MAKING something cool.
Nichola Lytle is a graphic artist specializing in design, marketing, illustration and web. She works with local businesses and organizations to create meaningful connections and inspire others.
After graduating from Queen’s University with a Fine Arts Honors degree Nichola taught herself digital arts and started pinkdogdesigns.com – a full-service graphic design agency operating out of Nelson, BC. Nichola has since taught design as an instructor with Selkirk College’s Digital Arts & New Media Program. Nichola loves playing hockey, hiking, biking, skiing and playing outdoors. Her passion for STREAM labs is to help build a space where people of all ages can connect to create, innovate and inspire each other.
